How We Started
Chop Chop Red Pot was born from one man’s love of cooking Southern food he grew up eating. He made his dream a reality with his commitment to remain a sober and positive member of his community.
Chef Owner, Erick Crawford’s passion for food stemmed from an early age of visiting his Grandma Mary here in North Carolina. He recalls her waking him at 5:00 a.m. to make fresh buttermilk biscuits.
Throughout his childhood, his parents knew their way around the kitchen. However, when Dad brought out the Red Pot, the whole family knew they were eating well that night. Erick has held on to the cooking lessons taught by his family and to his love of preparing the savory dishes he grew up on. When his Dad passed away, he inherited his symbolic Red Pot.

His battle with alcoholism, along with the loss of his father, pushed him to hit rock bottom. Deciding he had something more to live for, he chose sobriety. Sobriety allowed him to pursue his dreams with confidence and a clear mind.
